In todays complicated, too much information and the uncertain stormy ocean of life in 2023, we all need to remember to just breathe, get perspective and bring it all back to
WHO WE ARE BEING ….
the Captain of our destiny.
So when we have taken a breath on the bridge, stepped back and looked through our binoculars to navigate life, what can we do next?
WE DECIDE to regain control of OUR SHIP……
Here are the 12 Bodycamp Captains…..
By focusing hard on one of these navigation pointers from our own INNER CAPTAIN we can gain control of our ship and face any storm life creates…..
1. Captain Brain Health.
With over 75,000 thoughts a day flashing through our brain and 75% being negative, we simply need to find ways to calm the brain waves….
Eating nature foods and drinking more water supports brain health and gets it back working properly.
Meditation and periods of silence also reduce stress within the brain. By feeding our mind with positive information like interesting podcasts or reading good health books and not watching bad news, making social media comparisons or improving our sleep, we begin to make better choices in life.
2. Captain Breath.
We breathe 20,000 times a day unconsciously…imagine what would happen if we became conscious of our breath?
The breath is the bridge between the mind and body. By focusing on breath, we connect the mind and body together and therefore we reach our true potential.
3. Captain Water.
75% of the body is water and the planet is also covered by this amount. It’s critical to our wellbeing. Indeed we feel hungry sometimes but in-fact the body is just thirsty.
What would happen if you started the day the right way with warm water and lemon instead of coffee? Do you think your liver (your main filter system ) would thank you over time?
4. Captain Nutrition
We all know nature foods are the only types the food really recognises and digests. Processed, packed food is always to be enjoyed but always in moderation. Plant based food is practised at all Bodycamps because it introduces new ideas and new fruits and veggies.
“You are what you eat” and with energy being a very important part of your life, is it time to maintain steady energy levels and not have the highs and lows which come from unnatural foods, cereals packets and sugary drinks like coke and Coke Zero?
5. Captain Silence
Silence is golden – the reason….it provides a calm resting zone from the stress of life. With so much input from technology these days, the mind and body is crying out for peace….not war and conflict (and that’s just the conflict on decisions within us)
By sitting some where in silence for 5 mins a day without outside input and letting your mind discover what’s really important, we begin to lift the layers of perspective and perception and uncover true self…..
6. Captain Movement.
One of the most important, this captain can begin a Diana Ross style “chain reaction” of better nutrition habits, improved sleep and improved water habits.
After the age of 35, we are all acting irresponsibly if we do not perform resistance training at least 3 times a week to slow down the aging process and support the skeletal structure for every day lifting and shifting.
7. Captain Sleep.
Another key Captain which controls the way we feel, act and think while we are awake.
Without a proper night time routine, a dark bedroom with no technology and comfortable bed, no one is able to eat, work or exercise. Make sure your getting around 8 hours a day. The great tennis player Roger Federer always made sure he built his day around 12 hours sleep…..
8. Captain Nature (with commander temp)
We are all connected to planet earth. The sun rises means GO, the sun sets means REST!
Commander temperature also helps us feel different sensations such as the ice bath and aids recovery, while the sun in the correct amounts feeds the skin vitamin D and tells us to drink more water.
Indeed Bodycamps whole program at each venue is always based outside in nature and around the circadian rhythm – the sun and the moon.
Being outdoors ensures we reconnect to nature and that important “alpha brain wave” we all have access to within the mind – this state of calm and inner beauty is displayed continuously by Mother Nature daily to us.
9. Captain Inner Pipes
Inside us their are thousands of miles of vessels, veins and pipes. It almost looks like a tree inside our body. If one or two of these become blocked with poor nutrition, lack of sleep or
poor blood flow (beginning from lack of daily movement) we are in trouble.
Clearing the pipes daily is our responsibility. Blowing our nose, going to the toilet regularly, eating natural foods, drinking water and movement are a great defense against heart attacks and disease.
Always remember to promote 2 things daily …blood flow and air flow.
10. Captain Fun
Being light hearted and having fun is a fantastic way to relieve stress and anxiety around the mind and body. By dancing, telling bad jokes or not talking yourself too seriously, we begin to let go of responsibility and forget how serious life gets.
Have a laugh today and smile! Put some 80s music on like wham and dance for 5 mins…you will feel much better before you Go Go !!!!
11. Captain DD (Digital detox)
Reducing your phone time or screen time (outside work) to 10-30 mins a day can improve your life. Do you scroll constantly? What would happen if you took a 10 minute break from staring at that screen daily? How much sleep could you achieve if you didn’t use your phone for an alarm clock and keep it outside your room?
At Bodycamp the phone is banned from the dining table, which supports connection between all guests. This in-turn provides a safe space for everyone to share stories and solutions to problems and share laughs about life.
12. Captain L+R (Love and Relationships)
Perhaps love and self love could be the most important for you. With your self talk and inner critic attacking you constantly, could you be kinder to yourself?
If you practise being kinder to yourself, would all your relationships improve perhaps?
Relationships with life, your family, food, friends, nature, self improvement ?
