In today’s blog, we talk about the power of association.
At the bodycamp.com in Ibiza, we cover the different associations we are unaware of in our lives and how much power they can have on us. These are important, because if we don’t realise what they are, we can’t use them to empower ourselves.
So, whats the definition of an association?
A sound, sight, memory, taste or the way something feels that we create an EMOTION from.
Here are some examples of poor associations – which some people use in their daily lives.
1. Alcohol/Champagne in large amounts – celebrating winning or a special occasion
2. Cake in large amounts – birthdays
3. Drugs – to feel “high”
4. Dead/processed foods – comfort/emotional eating
5. Social media – do you spends hours on it, using it to learn or see how bad the world is?
Lets look at some of these old traditions…..for example why is it cool to celebrate an occasion with excess alcohol for adults?
How do children see this and what do they associate success with…excess alcohol? When Grand Prix winners win a race they spray champagne – why don’t they spray sparking mineral water instead!!!
Also birthday cakes (which can be full of sugar!) – why is this cool to give to children on a birthday – maybe they have earned it with exercise…or do we once a year need to eat a super healthy cake instead!
Here are some examples of ways of using better associations
1. Sounds /Music – Listen anytime to feel better
2. Dancing – Anytime to feel good
3. Healthy foods – Food is medicine for the body
4. Exercise – To feel “high”
5. Meditation – To clear the mind
If we can learn to use the 5 above better associations, your path to a healthy life will be longer, less trouble fee and much cleaner.
Be mindful about your associations – which ones are destructive to you and which are constructive?
Which associations have you got in your life right now and how are you using them in a positive way?
