Yes, you heard correctly. Has Rick gone mad (or even more crazy), I hear you cry! Read on to find out…
Learn in our latest blog this month how self-worth, visualisation and consistency are the three kings of New Year’s resolution success!
Every January, I get approached by many people and asked the same question: “Hey, Rick, you cool 80s kinda guy, why do you never set any New Year’s resolutions/”
The answer is simple.
After ten years of coaching at the Body Camp and meeting and working with over 5,000 guests, I’ve learned that New Year’s resolutions are short-lived and don’t succeed long-term 99% of the time. But why?
There are three main reasons:
- People don’t actually think they DESERVE a healthy body and a good life
- People don’t VISUALISE or SEE themselves as the better version of themselves that they want to be
- People do not PRACTICE the DAILY magic of consistency or check-in with a top coach every 6 months for accountability
I will now break down below the real ‘Three Kings of New Year’s Resolutions’:
- You MUST believe you are WORTH the effort
People don’t believe they deserve a healthy body and feel like they are not worth it. They may also believe it’s not possible. IT IS POSSIBLE! By realising and becoming aware that everybody is born with the human right to enjoy a healthy body that can walk, run, carry, lift, play and dance whenever it pleases, anyone can realise that becoming the best version of themselves is the daily practice of looking after and maintaining the human body they were born with. It’s the only place we live 24 hours a day – inside our body! When a person begins to understand that they are worth the effort and time, they will begin to grow in confidence by practising daily exercise, which in turn kickstarts many good habits such as improved nutrition, sleeping, digital detoxing, silence, and breathing (for more information, come to the Body Camp and learn about the 12 Captains that we teach our guests about).
2. VISUALISE your best self and IMAGINE you are doing good things for yourself daily.
People don’t see themselves (or visualise) themselves as a healthy person. Their own self concept is one that portrays someone who is unhealthy, lacking in confidence and unable to walk, run or even make it to the gym. You must SEE yourself in your mind going to the gym or going to the park – even enjoying the process! Maybe you see yourself enjoying a class or a sport. The important part of this visualisation is to mentally practice daily (for 5 minutes) seeing the best version of yourself doing the things YOU KNOW YOU MUST DO to live a longer, healthier, happy life.
3. Daily consistency works like pure magic. Apply this daily to your life in the area of your health habits and after only 30 days you are guaranteed a good outcome! Brushing your teeth daily is automatic consistency for most people – it is a learned behaviour from a young age which is ingrained into us over time. Why not take this example forward into your life and realise you CAN DO IT IN OTHER AREAS TOO! When you eat, when you drink, when you sleep, when you meditate, when you go outside into nature are all great examples of ways you can apply consistency into your daily life – 1% at a time! Of course, much like a yacht which sets sail on the sea, you will be pushed off course by tides, winds and the currents of life. By getting an accountability check-in every 6 months, you will stay on course and reach your destination. That’s how the Body Camp and I can support you.
By following the ‘Three Kings of New Year’s Resolutions’ above, you will never need to set another resolution again.
