Here at www.thebodycamp.com, you will never find the following 3 ingredients at our luxury fitness retreat in Ibiza – that’s a promise! Why? They are unnatural and very unhealthy.
At The Body Camp, we believe that all food and drink (even alcohol) can be enjoyed in moderation!
The below ingredients need to be avoided when possible….
Top 3 ingredients to avoid in food
- Trans-fats
Now illegal in California (thanks to Arnie) they are implicated in all sorts of health issues. They extend shelf life of foods and that’s not good for the body.
Examples – Margarines and foods that last months in the fridge.
- High fructose corn syrup
This is a major cause of diabetes, obesity and liver disease.
Examples – Sweets, cakes and pastries.
- Highly processed starches and flour
These are usually cheap foods and contain not much fibre/vitimains/minerals
Examples – White grain based products like pastas, cakes, pastries and white bread.
Whilst we are on this subject, we also need to cover a myth about fats and carbs…..
FAT and CARBS are not bad words.
Good fats to be enjoyed in moderation are…
- Coconut oil
- Olive oil
- Almonds
- Cashews
- Mixed nuts unsalted
- Nut butters (cashew/almond etc)
- Avocados
- Walnuts
- Fatty fish
- Fish oils
Complex carbs to be enjoyed in moderation are…
- Brown rice
- Quinoa
- Buckwheat
- Sweet potatoes
- Pumpkins
- Parsnip
- Carrots
Enjoy all the above in moderation and remember – there are no such words as bad foods or bad drinks. What we must always do is never overload the body with larger amounts than necessary!
